Role Purpose:
Janssen is currently recruiting a Senior Medical Advisor Oncology and Precision Medicine located in Zug, Switzerland, to lead the Lung cancer and Precision Medicine space at Janssen Switzerland. The Senior Advisor will be the point of contact for Lung cancer and Precision Medicine internally and externally and provide lung cancer and diagnostics expertise to cross-functional team as well as to the senior management. Through strategic partnerships with experts, medical societies, academic institutions, and laboratories the Senior Advisor will shape the local landscapes of Lung Cancer treatment and diagnostics. The successful candidate will report to the Medical Lead Oncology.
Key Responsibilities include:
· Act as a scientific expert (internally and externally) with deep knowledge of the Therapeutic Area (Lung cancer), treatment trends incl. unmet medical needs, scientific insights and clinical studies to maximize company product value through high quality scientific knowledge management. Actively participate in international/national congresses, medical education events to continuously improve both scientific and practical knowledge around product and disease area and to identify evolving scientific concepts.
· Lead & implement the local Diagnostic strategy, in line with CVTs and with the regional Precision Medicine Team, for all tumors and other assets.
· Plan, design and execute the Medical Affairs Plan, including the local parts of the evidence generation. Develop and co-create with EMEA Precision Medicine Team, collaborative plans for successful launches of Diagnostic programs at local level, ensuring seamless access to testing for patients that supports the applicable brand strategies
· Contributes to the Country Value Team (CVT) and Local Action Team (LAT) by sharing medical knowledge and insights from the field with the cross-functional team and contributing to achieving CVT strategy and aligned goals
· Occupies a central role in medical affairs liaising with MSL’s, Medical TA Leads, regional Precision Medicine Team and the EMEA medical affairs functional network
· Has an internal focus with the expectation that around 20% of working time is spend in interactions with Leading Specialists
· Accountable for writing and updating SMPC/Succinct Statement as well as reviewing CMIRs/DMIRs
· Provide precision medicine (diagnostics) expertise & guidance for relevant CVTs to ensure local launch readiness regarding testing and to support successful commercial strategy for products requiring diagnostic procedures
· Ensure quality assessment through e.g., ring trials deployment
· Close collaboration with key Leading Specialists to identify customer needs and based on that tailoring MAF activities such as round tables, ad boards, medical education activities or related medical projects.
· Own and manage budget for Lung cancer and Precision Medicine initiatives
· Develop internal & external customer relationships that successfully drive business objectives.
· Balance business priorities and resources
Qualifications
Qualifications:
· Scientific degree: Medical Doctor, Pharmaceutical or Natural Science University degree (with MD/PhD being an additional asset)
· Deep knowledge of the therapeutic area, strength in research and interpretation of medical data.
· Minimum 2-4 years’ relevant work experience within Medical Affairs, preferentially as MSL and Medical advisor. Clinical and/or R&D experience (academic or pharmaceutical) a plus.
· Experience in the area of Diagnostics/ Precision Medicine
· Scientific acumen and communication skills to be accepted by Leading Specialists in peer-to-peer relationship
· Strong knowledge of Pharma industry and Health Care Environment
· Demonstrated ability to influence and manage a complex set of internal and external stakeholders
· Proven track record of working within highly matrixed environment
· Strong leadership and influencing skills
· Accountable, reliable, self-motivating and creative personality
· Ability to deal with uncertainty
· Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to aggregate and convert complex data into simple messages for internal and external clients
· Strong and flexible team player: ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and to develop internal and external networks
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, German, or French
